The Staff of IVAO GCC has decided to prepare this small guide to accompany you in your first steps
through the network and to ensure that your experience at IVAO is the most optimal. Within this document you
will find the most relevant information to get started on the Internet.

Let’s start at the beginning. IVAO is the acronym in English for “International Virtual Aviation Organization” . It is a online network, attracts both aviation enthusiasts and non-aviation enthusiasts. It was founded in 1998 with the aim of providing a space for online aviation enthusiasts where they can raise the level of realism. Providing live traffic and “realistic” live Air Traffic Control service.
It is based in Belgium, is a non-profit organization and is regulated and registered under Belgian laws and regulations.
IVAO is structured in a sustainable, transparent and fair way. Their systems are free software, members can access them freely.
IVAO is financed by private donations and private sponsorship.
IVAO has a very solid and well consolidated structure in several aspects, it has its internal regulations and rules, well documented in the manuals and instructions.
IVAO follows technical standards imposed by the ICAO (International Civil Aviation Organization) and European aviation regulations. However, certain local regulations are adopted.
